Familiar

He ambled along the gallery, with his date,

praising and remarking the portraits.

Across the grand hall he spotted her, graceful as ever,

admiring the art as she walks hand in hand with him.

He felt himself smiling, with the flash of the good memories,

long talks, shared dreams, a cherished bond;

It was everything yet unfinished, and they both knew it.

Instantly, he was dragged back to reality with those familiar eyes.

He doubted if she feels the same rush of dear emotions,

yet it was long since they went along that memory lane.

So along with introductions and greetings they all moved along.

Somewhere between two hearts skipped beats,

And the night was long.
